Shock to the System |
|
| Morgan has
joined the cast of Here! TV!'s "Shock to the System," the network's second
in a series of telepics based on books written by Richard Stevenson. "Shock"
stars Chad Allen as a gay detective who goes undercover in a therapy
group.Morgan plays the mother of a young gay man who is murdered.
Synopsis: When hard boiled private eye Donald Strachey (Chad Allen) finds his latest client dead, an apparent suicide, Albany’s favorite gay detective smells a rat and decides to take matters into his own hands. With the help of his straight-laced but adoring husband Tim Callahan (Sebastian Spence) and his occasionally too-eager assistant Kenny Kwon (Nelson Wong), Strachey’s investigation leads him on a dark and dangerous trail into the world of "gay conversion therapy" - a twisted mix of psychology and religion designed by Dr. Trevor Cornell (Michael Woods) to turn homosexuals "straight." With a cast of sexy young suspects at the heart of the mystery, and a standout performance from pop culture icon Morgan Fairchild as a wealthy socialite with a few secrets of her own, this second installment of the successful "Donald Strachey Mysteries," based on author Richard Stevenson’s much-loved book series, is sure to leave even the most jaded audiences in shock ... |
Shock to the System was released on home video on Feb. 13, 2007 from Regent. The DVD includes a special feature of particular relevance to the film plot, the touching documentary SoulForce Resists Religion-Based Discrimination, about a group dedicated to free GLBT people from religious and political oppression through nonviolent resistance. This documentary chronicles Chad Allen, Judy Shepard (Matthew Shepard’s mother) and others as they march to protest anti-gay group Focus On The Family in Colorado Springs. |

Phyllis Hale
Television diva and icon Morgan Fairchild portrays Phyllis Hale, the patrician mother of a murdered gay man. Homophobic Phyllis Hale attempts to "cure" her son's homosexuality by sending him to the Phoenix Foundation, a "gay reparative therapy" institution. Phyllis is a wealthy, widowed mother struggling to understand her son's sudden death which forces her to deal with her "conditional" love of her gay son. Phyllis and Chad Allen's character, Donald Strachey, lock horns in emotionally powerful scenes that portray both sides of this very divisive issue.

Morgan and Mario Cantone star in Al Roker Prods.' 'Celebrity Food Fight,' a backdoor pilot for the Food Network |
Mix in two celebrities ... stir in two world-renowned chefs and a dash of audience participation and you've got a recipe for the star-studded culinary showdown called Celebrity Food Fight, produced by Al Roker Entertainment, Inc. for Food Network. The new reality cook-off, a one-hour special hosted by Al Roker, was taped with contestants actress Morgan Fairchild and comedian Mario Cantone, under the tutelage of Master Chefs Daniel Boulud and Todd English at the Institute for Culinary Education in New York. "We have been simmering this show in our creative culinary crock pot for more than a year and now we're ready for everybody to have a taste," said executive producer and show host Al Roker. In the special, complete with live audience, it's a race against time as two celebrities don chef's hats and to prove they've got the talent to out- shop and out-cook one another. Fairchild and Cantone will begin with culinary boot camp and learn to cook 5-star style in high-pressured kitchens -- with Fairchild in English's renowned Gramercy Park restaurant Olives and Cantone in Boulud's contemporary French east-side eatery Daniel. They then take their newfound skills into the grocery store and ultimately back to the kitchen set to battle it out one-on-one for the title of hottest new celebrity chef. There are time limitations, chef lifelines and plot twists to this delectable food fight in which the celebrities are judged by experts on presentation, taste, creativity, and accuracy of cooking a full-course meal. Be
sure to watch Morgan's appearance on April 8, 2006 at 9:00 PM only on the Food
Network. Check your local listings for times and channels in your areas. |
